How is a future APE code checked in Sirene?

Statistical classification only

Statistical classification only. This guide does not determine any reader's code. Confirm a code with INSEE or through the Sirene register that holds the record. This is general information, not advice on any reader's registration.

A future APE code is checked in Sirene by entering the SIREN number of the company in the tool that Sirene provides for that purpose. Service Public states that it is possible to consult the new APE code and to request a possible rectification, by informing the SIREN number of the company in the tool made available on the site Sirene.gouv.fr. The new APE code appears with the designation for the 2025 code and the 2025 activity label. The check shows the code that will apply under NAF 2025. It shows the entry as INSEE has prepared it.

It does not decide the code, and it does not replace a rectification request where the prepared code does not match the main activity exercised.

What is needed for the check?

The check needs the SIREN number of the company. Service Public states that the SIREN number is entered in the Sirene tool. The SIREN number identifies the legal unit in the Sirene directory. Without it, the tool cannot show the entry for the unit, because Sirene holds entries by unit, not by activity description. A reader who searches by activity words will find nomenclature headings, not the entry for a specific unit. The two searches answer different questions. The nomenclature search shows what headings exist. The Sirene check shows what entry INSEE has prepared for one identified unit. Both are needed for a complete check, but only the Sirene check shows the entry.

Rectification requestSIREN number and identifiers stated by Service PublicRequest for INSEE to review the prepared code

The table above separates the three actions. Only the second action shows the entry. The third action asks for a review. Neither action is a determination by this site, which holds no register.

When can the future code be checked?

Service Public published the notice about the check, and the check is available during 2026 (FIXED), before the new codes apply from 1 January 2027 (FIXED). This guide does not assert a closing date for the check, because no closing date was stated on the Service Public page fetched for this guide. A reader should check the Sirene tool itself for its current status, and should not assume that a check made at one point in 2026 (FIXED) remains the final position without rechecking. INSEE prepares the codes, and a prepared code can be reviewed through the rectification route where the reader considers it incorrect. The check is therefore a step in a process, not a single event that settles the entry for all time.

What does the result show, and what does it not show?

The result shows the prepared APE code for 2025 and the activity label for 2025, as designated in Sirene. It shows the code that INSEE has assigned on the basis of the information it holds. It does not show the reasoning behind the assignment, and it does not show the codes for every activity the unit carries out. It shows the main activity entry. If the prepared code matches the main activity exercised, the check ends with that confirmation in Sirene. If it does not match, the reader can request a rectification through the route described in the rectification guide in this cluster. The result does not decide tax, licensing, funding or collective agreement questions. Those questions belong to the authorities that apply their own rules, and the APE code remains a statistical description.

Where is the check confirmed?

The check is confirmed in Sirene itself, the register that holds the record, and the nomenclature is confirmed on the INSEE website. This site points to those sources. It holds no register and decides no entry. A reader who cannot find a unit in Sirene, or whose SIREN number is not accepted by the tool, should contact INSEE or Sirene through the channels stated on those sites, rather than treating a failed search as evidence about the code. A failed search shows only that the check could not be completed in that attempt.

Enter the SIREN number in the Sirene tool, read the prepared 2025 code and label it shows, and use the rectification route where the prepared code does not match the main activity exercised. ”
